Historical Marrakech (09h00/12h00)

Centuries old, wrapped in mystery, Marrakech « Morocco City » as the early travellers called it has always been something of a pleasure city. This marketplace was founded on the crossroads of the ancient caravan routes where the southern tribesmen and Berber villagers brought in their goods and sought entertainment. Known as « The red pearl of the south » because of the pink ocre colour of its buildings, Marrakech is the second Imperial capital after Fes and has been the stronghold of many powerful dynasties. You visit the immense still basin of the Menara Park with its pavilion (19th century) and impressive olive grove set against the backdrop of the high Atlas Mountains.

Step back in time to visit the city’s architectural attractions: The Koutoubia Minaret, the most perfect Islamic monument in North Africa (12th century), the delicate Granada-style carving of the Saadian Tombs (16 century), and the Bahia palace, masterpieces of domestic architecture (19th century). Next, we take a walk through labyrinth streets of the souks. Colourful valleys and small squares devoted to specific crafts where one can watch part of the production process. We end the tour in the famous Jemâa El Fna Square, an open space which is stage of a long-established ritual.

Marrakech Gardens

The gardens of Marrakech are as perfect destination. You will visit the immense still basin of the Agdal Park.

The beautiful Majorelle Gardens should on no account be missed. This subtropical botanical park is one of the most delightful spots in Marrakech: a small, meticulously palmed garden, created in the 1920s by the French painter, Jacques Majorelle. The park has a unique atmosphere enhanced by the verdant groves of balboo, dwarf palm, multicoloured bougainvillea, pink geraniums and various lily-covered pools.

On the Palmery, composed of about eighty thousand palm trees which extend north of Marrakech as far as the Tensift River.

The groves occupy a triangle of roughly 32,000 acres, with small plots of barley growing between the trees. There is sharp contrast between the peace and quiet to be found here and the bustling life of the city close by.

Ourika Valley

This trip takes you to a beautiful lush green valley about 60 Km away from Marrakech. It is a pleasant prelude to the Atlas Mountains and fine space from busy Marrakech. Along the road, through this unspoilt and charming valley, scattered at intervals are series of tiny hamlets, Interspersed by few summer homes. The valley is Berber-populated and is quite different from the country's urban life. The souk of Ourika is a small roadside village which hosts a weekly Berber market. This area is famed for its pottery and its varied samples of minerals and crystals.

Asni and Ouirgane

A beautiful scenic drive through the unbelievably impressive Atlas Mountains. Despite the forbidding appearance of its peaks, the mountains are surprisingly populated, their slopes dropping away to valleys and streams, with small Berber villages terraced into their sides, visit the local Berber market where villagers from miles away travel by donkey or mule to sell their wares. Asni is little more than a roadside village and marketplace and many trekkers pass straight through to travel up into the mountains.

The next stop is Ouirgane, The Happy Valley. A tiny picturesque village which is a perfect place to relax and have lunch (Optional) at "la Roseraire" or "au Sanglier Qui Fume". After lunch, mules for local treks and visits to a nearby Berber village can be arranged. Horses can also be hired for a ride in the hills.

1 - La Maison Arabe 

Formerly known for the reputation of its kitchen at the point to become most famous restaurant African continent, the Maison Arabe  propose workshops of kitchen . Those are addressed as well to the beginners as with the professionals, with all those which wish to discover the pleasures of the Moroccan table and to be initiated  with the one of the best kitchens of the world.

2 - Le Bled  

The house of hosts "Le Bled ", a hotel of charm offering all refined comfort and quietude, between city and land scape. Near Marrakech, of its médina, its Riad, its souks and its craftsmen, "Le Bled " an oasis of freshness and authenticity.

Each session is  preceded by a brief exposed on the Moroccan kitchen during which the history and the traditions are evoked which accompany the "Preparations by the day".

The organization of each workshop makes it possible each participant to prepare a salad, a dish (tagine or couscous)  a dessert. A maximum of 8 people per workshop. The dishes are inspired by the chart of each respective restaurant.
